Transcendentalist Research Presentation...

Research online for classic or modern transcendentalists. (by modern, I mean people like Chris McCandless who have left society to strike out on their own.) Choose one and create a PPT or Prezi about that person. You must research their life and beliefs and include the following information in your presentation:

* Picture of the person and photos of where they've been

* Personal history of their background

* What led them to follow their specific lifestyle

* Main events in their life

* Your personal thoughts regarding this person

* Play one song that you think represents this person and explain why

Some examples of people you may use are:
Classic: Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau
Modern: Pat Perry (artist) and Mike Brodie (train hopper and photographer)

School Traditions and Persuasion

Part I
President: Ethos
Thank you all for joining us today. Our company, Spirit Central, was built upon the values of honesty, integrity, pride and enthusiasm. In 2007, our founding board members came together to bring schools of all sizes and backgrounds ways to increase the excitement on campus, as well as implement traditions that will last for generations.
Though a relatively new company, we’ve already assisted and consulted with 550 schools who were in dire need of adding school pride and spirit to their faculty, staff, and students. We work with everyone on campus to discover what it is that would benefit the campus as a whole. Spirit Central… making traditions cool again!

Creative Director: Pathos
Imagine being confident and proud every time you step onto the grounds of your high school. Imagine the possibilities of being the founding members of a school tradition that you can pass down year to year, and imagine watching that tradition lift your high school up to the next level.  With Spirit Central, all of this can come true.
After speaking with a sample group of your students and administrators, we have come up with an example of a school tradition that will work for you. We’ve called it, Cultural Kickback Day. This campus is filled with international flare, and it is time to celebrate that. Cultural Kickback Day would be an all-school open house where students from different cultures would bring food, music, traditional clothing and participate in an all-day festival, showcasing what makes their culture unique and exciting. At the culmination of the day, there would be an international talent show, filled with dancing, singing, refreshments, and fun.
Now, your friends and family can really see what an awesome place Amicitia really is, and they can experience the tradition along with you!

Marketing Director: Logos
In addition to the beauty of our idea, the potential profit is undeniable. Spirit Central prides itself on helping create traditions that not only add spirit, but bring in revenue as well. Each cultural group would be responsible for bringing their own goods and talent to the festival, therefore Amicitia costs would be at a minimum. Plus, families and visitors would pay a small entrance fee of 50dh, and the profit would go straight to the school.
Where the big payoff comes in, is when those new visitors see the school, the students, and the global mindedness of Amicitia. It will be inevitable that more students will enroll and more tuition will be generated. Families today want their children to interact with the WORLD! What better way to start them on this journey, than to send them to the one and only American international school in Fes! Spirit Central... it makes CENTS!!!

Part II
Your group will come up with an advertisement using propaganda. It can be a commercial or print ad. It must include your company/tradition name, logo, and slogan, and it must appeal to your target audience.

Ethos: Use language that makes your company/group sound credible and respectable
Pathos: Use language that gets everyone excited for your tradition and ideas. Get them emotionally invested.
Logos: Use language that makes logical sense of your ideas. You are the facts, stats, and numbers person.
